Thanks for writing this very informative piece. I understand that the state-wide funding formula caps inflation in it's calculation at 4.5% which is much below the rate for the past few years, leading to many districts in the state having the issue now. Is that, in-part, a piece of the issue for Melrose as well? Not just that we're seeing inflation, but the state's share has proportionally gone down?

Thank you Scott for this article! Yes, this is very helpful in explaining the issues behind the lack of increase in the state aid that we received. The cities and towns are being asked to cover the rising costs, without proportional increases in the state aid we get.
